PETERSONS TANK MOUNTING AND OIL LINE PLUMBING

Due to the added effort of mounting the Petersons dry sump tank and routing of oil lines, I figured I'd devote a page to it. The tank is a 6 quart tank with supply, return and catch can AN male threaded fittings. The catch can is a Moroso can similar to the Petersons catch can version. Nothing complicated about either but the Moroso is slightly cheaper. As for appearance, they are nearly identical.
It took some effort getting the tank situated at the proper height within the small compartment normally used for the under-hood fuse box. I positioned the tank where I wanted it and then built custom sheet metal brackets and L angles that engage a .125 mounting plate. The tank clamp bracket mounts to the plate. The plate mounts to the bracket. I slotted the holes in the plate for minor adjustments. The bottom of the tank contacted the sheet metal panel which I cut out slightly in order to have an interference free vertical position. The oil cap is positioned approximately 3/16" above the upper sheet metal. I plan to build a cover for the access to finish it off once the lines are fabricated. The cover will be removed, allowing the original fuse box cutout access for tank line and clamp access. All lines are -12 Russell fittings and the port on the engine is a GM performance Parts adapter plate with AN outlets.
This photo shows the catch can line coming from the top fitting of the Petersons tank. I fabricated a "T" fitting using a -12 AN coupling. The fitting is drilled and tapped for a 1/4 NPT -4 AN line. The fitting ties in the stock LS7 PCV line coming from the valve covers. This photo is looking down, directly over the top of the tank.
I plan to fabricate a screw on panel to cover the opening. It will require a circular cutout for the filler cap and the AN line going to the Catch Can. This will also leave additional mounting room for smaller components - possibly the under hood fuse box or ISIS power cell.
